Acolytes

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion
Ministers of the Eucharist assist with taking communion to the sick and homebound parishioners, and when needed with the distribution of the Eucharist at parish Masses. New members are required to attend a short introductory preparation course.

Liturgy Support Group / Liturgy Committee
Facilitates and encourages the liturgical life of the parish through community worship. It is involved in the planning of the major liturgical events of the parish. The Group is open to all parishioners with ideas, suggestions and energy to assist in preparing liturgies and encouraging participation from our community.

Readers
This ministry of the Word is essential to our Sunday worship. Two readers are rostered for each Sunday Eucharist and each reader is called to read about once a month. New readers are required to attend a program of initiation. A good clear voice for proclaiming the Word and a sense of appreciation for and identification with the biblical text is essential.

Catechists
Catechists assist with faith education classes in state primary and secondary schools. The commitment for each person undertaking this ministry is usually ½ to 1 hour per week in a classroom setting for primary school in Mascot and Eastlakes; and at J.J. High school. Training, support and materials are provided.

Sacramental Programs
As a parish we celebrate the sacraments of initiation and support families who bring their children to them. For this reason we hold age-relevant preparatory programs for First Communion, Confirmation and First Reconciliation. Involvement in the planning, presentation and evaluation of the programs is most welcome.

Choir / Music Ministry

Childrens Choir
Practice is held every third Sunday after the 10am Mass and the children sing at the 10am Mass on the fourth Sunday.

Family Masses
Our aim is to have regularly Sunday Masses (say once a month) that are specifically directed towards families and children attending school.
